The Scouting Report Volume 8, Issue 2

Though the number of new listings has increased slightly since last month and this time last year, inventory has held steady at the low, low .8 month mark. When we look back at 2021, inventory took a dip in March, held steady for April and then took another dip in May. That downward slide goes against everything we generally expect in real estate this time of year. When the numbers come out next month it should be a good indicator as to whether the usually robust Spring market will pick up a little steam…or not. The lack of new listings is disheartening and potential buyers are the ones really feeling the brunt of it. Most agents we know have a strong client list made up of active buyers who have already been through the wringer and/or interested buyers who have been monitoring the market but are apprehensive about getting wrapped up in the competition and escalating prices. It’s a tough situation all around. And, of course, a good agent can’t help but take it to heart since it’s our job to do the best we can for our clients. The unofficial motto of the pandemic definitely applies: We’re in This Together. We’ll also get through this together. At Scout we believe that there is a home for everyone. Sometimes it just takes a bit more work to get there. Hang in there, kitties.
